D Capitals Big Band is a fifteen-piece band, founded in August 2014. The band is quite versatile in its musical repertoire and provides a nicely diverse collection of music which includes pop, rock, jazz and swing music. The band’s setup is that of a Big Band which is made up of trumpets; saxes and trombones and includes also string bass, lead guitar, percussion and keyboards. The majority of the band’s musicians hail from Gozo’s capital city Victoria, and that is from where the name of our band originated. The band made its debut on the 2nd August 2014 during the Gozo Ceramics Festival in Xlendi bay. That event kicked off myriad of appointments in Gozo and in Malta. The band had the opportunity to perform for three times abroad: Sanremo (2016); Palermo (2018) and Liberec Czech Republic (2018). In 2019 the band launched its biggest project so far: the Cittadella Arts Festival – an arts festival in the old fortified city which is supported by the Gozo Cultural Support Programme. Maestro George Apap is the band’s musical director.
